It started with painting wedding signs on my living room floor.
The first ever wedding signs I painted were for our own wedding.
I mean, Sydney weddings are EXPENSIVE so that was my initial motivation! To save money!
I wasn’t planning on starting a calligraphy business back then.
After I painted my own signs, I really wanted to do more creating so I enrolled myself in a calligraphy workshop and I was horrible at it LOL! But I consistently practised whenever I could.
I bought a Cricut from Spotlight, just hoping to make a little extra money...
This machine only cost me $600.
It was the best investment I ever made.
The return on this investment was LIFE CHANGING! It allowed me to:
✅ Create a profitable and thriving calligraphy business that consistently made me income.
✅ Replace my full-time job as my business was paying the bills.
✅ Give me the freedom to stay home with my newborn and spend as much time with her as I was self-employed and set my own work hours.
✅ Allowed us to eventually purchase our first home.
I started with simple painted wooden signs, just figuring it out as I went.
Over time, those turned into sleek acrylic pieces, and along the way, I built meaningful relationships with wedding stylists & planners who believed in my work.
Countless wedding visions came to life, with each project giving me more confidence to treat this not just as a creative outlet, but as a real, growing business.
Soon after, I got into teaching calligraphy workshops - sharing my love of calligraphy with others eager to create.

The first workshop I ever hosted back in July 13, 2019!
I remember emailing each person individually to try and get interest for this brand new offer and that’s pretty much how I filled my first workshop!
I wanted to get into live calligraphy & engraving - writing in real time at luxury events, PR launches, and VIP gifting experiences. So I put myself out there and IT PAID OFF!
This didn’t happen by chance - it happened because I had a clear strategy and made sure I was prepared when the opportunities arrived.
Last December, our family faced an uncertain time when my partner’s job reduced his hours and he eventually had to look for another job - it was a stressful and scary time at the worst possible time (Christmas and the kids’ birthdays were coming up!)
Thankfully, because I had built a calligraphy business, we had a reliable income stream to lean on - and it made all the difference during that stressful time!
